How Much Can You Make on Poshmark?
No average is meaningful, because earnings depend on what you sell, what it cost you, your average price, and how consistently you share. What is calculable is your own number, and Poshmark's structure makes that calculation unusually straightforward.
The calculation
Take the sale price. Subtract 20 percent if the sale was $15 or more, or $2.95 if it was below that. There is no separate payment processing to subtract, and no shipping to subtract either for standard-weight packages, since the buyer pays a flat $7.67 and the seller pays nothing up to five pounds.
Then subtract packaging and what the item cost you to acquire. Divide by the hours you spent photographing, listing, sharing, packing and shipping.
On a $100 sale you keep $80 before packaging and acquisition cost. On a $10 sale you keep $7.05, which is why the cheap end is where sellers lose money without noticing.
What actually determines the number
Acquisition cost is the largest variable. Someone clearing their own wardrobe has an effective cost of zero and everything is margin; someone buying to resell created their margin at purchase, not at sale.
Average price is second, and it matters more on Poshmark than elsewhere because of the flat fee below $15. The work per item is roughly identical whether it sells for $10 or $100, and at $10 the platform takes nearly 30 percent of it.
Sharing consistency is third and it is the one people underestimate. Items only move when they are visible, visibility comes from daily activity, and inventory that sits earns nothing however good it is.
The costs people leave out
Time is the main one, and Poshmark demands more of it than most platforms because of the sharing requirement. An hour spent listing is not the whole cost when sharing is a daily habit on top.
Packaging is small but real. Acquisition cost is large and frequently forgotten, particularly by anyone reselling rather than clearing a wardrobe.
What is not a hidden cost, unusually, is shipping and processing, both of which are genuinely covered within the standard arrangement. That is worth crediting when comparing against platforms where they are not.
Bottom line
There is no useful average, so calculate your own: sale price, minus 20 percent above $15 or $2.95 below it, minus packaging, minus what the item cost you, divided by the hours including daily sharing. There is nothing further to subtract for processing or for standard shipping, which is genuinely unusual. Acquisition cost is the largest variable, average price is second and matters more here than elsewhere because the flat fee takes nearly 30 percent of a $10 sale, and sharing consistency is third because invisible inventory earns nothing.
